Health, fitness and eating right should figure prominently in our lives, but the demands of our daily obligations often overshadow these instincts. Be Fit to Be’ne’Fit is a worksite-based awareness program launched by Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital to improve employee health.

The Be Fit to Be’ne’Fit campaign organizes activities during lunch breaks for medical center and hospital employees. These include BMI (body mass index) screenings and neighborhood walks. Nutrition materials are also available in cafeterias throughout the medical center and hospital.

The program is a small, but easy, way for everyone to be part of the solution to the problem of obesity. I encourage everyone to participate in this program and make a healthier lifestyle a top personal priority.

Herbert Pardes, MD
President and Chief Executive Officer of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital

I urge everyone to pay attention to good eating patterns and to managing your weight. I can think of no better things you can do to assure a long and healthy life than regular exercise, healthful eating, weight management and abstinence from smoking.

We would like our employees to have the most successful life and work situation possible. Please make every effort to take good care of yourself so we can enjoy your presence and collaboration for many years into the future.
